I Just Want to Go On Record B4 the Oscars End (Inglorious Basterds is brilliant.)

The movie is extremely violent. At times the violence is brutal and the perpetrators gleeful in their ruthlessness. It jokes with murder and death. It is over the top. Yet it is one of the most serious movies I have ever seen. I have no idea what Quentin Tarantino intended when he wrote and directed this film. But I see stark questions invoked.  What is evil? Is vengeance evil? Is vengeance and terror ever righteous? Is it necessary and is it moral for good people to commit acts of evil to fight for a righteous cause? Where is the evil in each of us? Just some thoughts as I pull for Inglorious Basterds to win some Oscars. 🙂
