No, the police claim that he threatened them with a long knife. But as you can see in the story witnesses refute this claim. Moreover it would be impossible to deny the claim if an officer had been stabbed. No officer was stabbed. There are no official accounts of his having stabbed an officer nor is he accused of stabbing anyone.

Thanks

Good discussion about an important topic that ahrdly anyone talks about. One economist said that the Fed could play a role in pushing for all these billions to be invested,by charging banks a fee for holding the money. Right now, they get a small interest payment, so the incentive is not strong. Is it also a chance to sabotage the economy to get rid of Obama? to reduce the wages and rights of workers even more? other similar motives?/

Hi Michael,

Thank you for writing such a good article addressing Armistice/Veterans Day in a real and honest way. As one who has served in war and seen its non-discriminate violent death and destruction, and as one who has had his own son sent to another similar war 20 years later, your testimony is very important and should be considered by every American in whose name U.S. soldiers are sent off to kill and be killed.

I will do what I can to forward and pass along your very fine essay regarding the American people's recognition of Veterans Day and what it's like for a veteran such as yourself who's actually been to war trying to reconcile that experience with how the day is "celebrated" by Americans here at home.

I think that one of the ways that we can honor this holiday is by returning to its roots, and commemorating Armistice Day. It shifts the focus from honoring veterans to honoring peace, and is more inclusive because it allows civilians to feel that they can be a part of the rich heritage of this day. We held a small march and rally in my hometown of Rockville (MD) this Friday. Two-thirds of the participants were civilians, and they were happy to be actively celebrating peace with veterans.

@Please!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Home-girl/boy, 71st classmate,

I just want you and others reading this to know that I am not dissing the Army or military. I disagree with my nation's foreign policy. I respect the choices young people make to serve our nation. That is the choice I made in 1981. But I am a different person than I was at 17; 29 years ago. I am sure you or I hope you have gained some new wisdom in the last 29 years that has changed your views about life and politics. The wisdom I have gained has led me to disagree with and work against the choices our leaders are making about endless war and their strategy to address terrorism.

No I do not receive money from the VA or the government. I have been blessed not to be disabled etc. However, if I was I would take it as I think all vets should receive what is due to them as vets.

I have a right as a person to think, to examine the world and to speak out when I see something I believe is wrong. I in fact have that obligation as a citizen. I love my country and I want to see it be better. You do not have to agree with my observations. That's one of the things that is so great about freedom.

I will give it a rest when injustice become a thing of the past. I really don't see that happening soon.

"Get a new life!!" you say. Well God(ess) has led me down the path I currently tread. If she instructs me to a new path, I will listen.

"So I was known as Little Mike." Learn something new everyday.

Take care whoever you are. Perhaps we can discuss this more over a beer at a class reunion.
